Asian Monetary Policy Forum (AMPF) 2014

The AMPF held its inaugural meeting in Singapore on 24 May 2014.  The day-long programme for AMPF brought academicians, policymakers, as well as financial and business economists together to discuss monetary policy issues in the Asian context.

Opening Speech by Mr Ravi Menon, Managing Director, MAS

Mr Ravi Menon, Managing Director, MAS, opened the inaugural AMPF 2014 by identifying the different approaches of central banks in securing financial stability in the post-crisis era.

Commissioned Paper and Discussions

AMPF 2014 featured a commissioned paper by prominent macroeconomist Professor Maurice Obstfeld from the University of California at Berkeley, titled “Trilemmas and Tradeoffs: Living with Financial Globalization”.  This paper was discussed during the forum by Dr Jonathan Ostry from the International Monetary Fund and Dr Claudio Borio from the Bank for International Settlements.
