E-Services

In line with the Government's vision to be a leading e-Government in the Digital Economy, MAS implemented an e-Returns framework to support all MAS' statutory returns and ad hoc surveys submitted by financial institutions over the Internet. The e-Returns framework improves and simplifies access by financial institutions and lays the foundation for enterprise-to-enterprise information exchange on a standards-based XML architecture.

Another e-Services initiative is the electronic tendering system (e-Tender) for SGS, which will provide an end-to-end solution for the tender process and allow primary dealers to submit electronic bids for SGS via the Internet. In addition, a repository of historical SGS information has been made available online at the MAS website, to enable industry players to evelop SGS indices. The repository contains prices and yields of all outstanding and benchmark issues of bonds and treasury bills; as well as SGS turnover volumes.

Enterprise Initiatives

To better support the needs of a knowledge-based organisation, MAS embarked on a project to evolve the MAS intranet into a knowledge workplace. By providing staff with easy access to enterprise-wide information and expertise, the knowledge workplace facilitates greater collaboration and innovation within the organisation. During the year, a portal was introduced to provide individualised access to information resources such as discussion groups, document repositories, news updates and e-learning. The enterprise data was integrated into a data warehouse, allowing for the analysis of operational data and extraction of business intelligence.
