The Singapore Investment Banking Association (SIBA) Equity Derivatives and Structured Products Taskforce was set up in October 2005 to review and propose initiatives to further develop the equity derivatives and structured products market. The process concluded in June 2006 with a Taskforce Report outlining 21 recommendations. Among them were that a broader class of structured products should be permitted to be listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and that the process of getting listing approval be streamlined. Since then, both MAS and the industry have been working together to launch these products to add to the diversity and completeness of the warrants product suite in Singapore. In addition, a SIBA Retail Education Committee was formed to identify key retail education initiatives and to enhance the level of retail investor sophistication in Singapore.
