Public Statement on Fraudulent Phone Calls Misusing MAS' Name

MAS has learnt of isolated cases of possible phone scams, purportedly from Hong Kong where MAS' name was misused. These phone calls typically asked the recipients to transfer funds to a particular party or account and indicated that the request for the transfer of money was by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

2   MAS does not ask consumers for confidential information or to transfer funds electronically.

3   For tips on how to protect yourself from such fraudulent activities, please refer to the following MoneySENSE guides: "Received an offer for a windfall?
