Significant technological and system enhancements are anticipated in the Singapore capital market sector. These include SGX's recent technological initiatives on Straight Through Processing (STP), open architecture and cross-border infrastructure workstreams.
Straight Through Processing
At SGX, the move towards an open settlement infrastructure will reduce settlement risk, promote shorter
settlement turnarounds and facilitate cross-border initiatives. This will position Singapore at the forefront of international developments and best practices. Industry participants can also benefit
from improved liquidity stemming from quicker settlement turn around time.
Preliminary work has already begun on the STP project, with MAS lending support to the initiative between SGX and its member companies.
