Singapore played host to the 2011 Currency Conference, the flagship conference of the currency industry. The conference was an unprecedented success, with a record 520 delegates from the currency industry representing 75 countries, attending the four-day event. In conjunction with the Currency Conference, the International Association of Currency Affairs also presented the 4th Excellence in Currency Awards, where MAS was among the top three recipients of the 2011 Best Public Education Programme Awards.

In June 2011, MAS issued a special coin set - the Grandeur of Heritage Orchids coin set, with a limited mintage of 8,000 sets, comprising 10 Silver Proof coins, each featuring a different Heritage Orchid of Singapore in full colour. The featured orchids were found in the popular Heritage Orchids of Singapore Coin Set Series that MAS had issued between 2006 and 2010. In addition to colour application, each coin also featured the contours of the respective orchid within a leaf-shaped enclosure at the bottom of the coin.
