Statement of Commitment and Assurance
Generally, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”) may collect and process personal information in its role as the financial regulator and supervisor of the financial industry in Singapore, and for the performance of its statutory functions under the relevant laws and regulations administered by MAS.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will treat any information that we receive from you with care, and we recognise the need to manage and protect any information that you share with us.
Collection of Information
We may use "cookies", where a small data file is sent to your browser to store and track information about you when you enter our digital service. The cookie is used to track information such as the number of users and their frequency of use, profiles of users and their preferred digital services. While this cookie can tell us when you enter our digital services and which pages you visit, it cannot read data off your hard disk.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the digital service.
We do not collect personal information like names and addresses when you visit our digital service unless you choose to provide it to us. If you do choose to provide that information to us, it is only used for the purpose for which you gave it to us.
If You Send Us Personal Information
If you provide us with personally identifiable data:
(a) Where appropriate, we may share necessary data with other Government agencies, so as to improve the discharge of public functions, and to serve you in the most efficient and effective way unless such sharing is prohibited by law.
(b) We will NOT disclose your personal data to non-Government entities without your consent, except where the disclosure is authorised by law, is necessary for the performance of our functions and duties, or advances the purpose for which you provided the information. For example, if you file a complaint against a financial institution, it may be sent to the financial institution for action.
(c) For your convenience, we may also display to you data you had previously supplied us or other Government Agencies. This will speed up the transaction and save you the trouble of repeating previous submissions. Should the data be out-of-date, please supply us the latest data.
The information you supply, whether through our online feedback form or by sending an electronic mail message, is maintained by us for the purpose of processing your request or inquiry. We do not collect information or create individual profiles for commercial marketing.
If you register for our mailing list, the information you provide will be used to send you MAS’ communiqués or notify you about updates to our website.
When you choose to send an electronic mail message or submit an online feedback form to us, you are consenting to MAS using the information provided therein, including your personally identifiable information, in accordance with this notice.
Personal Information Safeguards
If you previously provided your personal information to MAS, you may make a request to us to receive information about the processing of your personal information, to access the personal information, and to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information. All requests and objections about the way your personal information was handled should be made in writing via our contact us page. Under certain circumstances, we may be prohibited from providing you with the information requested e.g. criminal investigation or proceedings.

To safeguard your personal information data, all electronic storage and transmission of personal data is secured with appropriate security technologies.

Transfer of Personal Information between MAS and EU Securities Regulators
MAS is a signatory to the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (“MMoU”) and Enhanced Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (“EMMoU”), which facilitates cross-border cooperation in supervision and enforcement, principally by establishing a channel for the sharing of information amongst IOSCO member regulators. MAS collects, processes and uses personal information from fellow signatory regulators for the purpose of enforcing and securing compliance with securities and derivatives laws in Singapore, and transfers personal information to fellow signatory regulators for the same purpose in their respective jurisdictions.
In view of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, the Administrative Arrangement (“AA”) for the Transfer of Personal Data between European Economic Area (“EEA”) Financial Supervisory Authorities and non-EEA Financial Supervisory Authorities (409.6 KB) serves to facilitate the transfer of personal information between EEA and non-EEA authorities for both supervisory and enforcement purposes. MAS is a signatory to the AA and is committed to have in place the safeguards set out in the AA for all personal information transferred pursuant to the AA.
As regards the personal information transferred under the AA, you may make a request to MAS to receive information about the processing of your personal information, to access the personal information and to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information. You may also make requests concerning the erasure or restriction of processing of your personal information. All requests should be addressed in writing to MAS at webmaster@mas.gov.sg, or to the transferring authority directly, or both.
Given the often sensitive nature of MAS’ work and the risk of prejudice to the discharge of MAS’ or an AA signatory’s public functions, your safeguards may be restricted in certain circumstances, for example pursuant to secrecy or other legal obligations, or to prevent prejudice or harm to the supervisory or enforcement functions of MAS or another signatory to the AA, from or to whom personal information may have been transferred. In each case, MAS will assess whether the restriction is appropriate.
