Pursuing Closer Bilateral
Engagements
As part of our
efforts to maintain strong bilateral relations and
foster greater policy exchanges with our regional
counterparts, MAS held several high-level bilateral
meetings with central banks and regulators from the
region. Bilateral meetings were held with Bank Indonesia
(BI) in May 2009, with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority
(HKMA) in July 2009, with the Bank of Thailand (BOT)
in August 2009 and with the China Banking Regulatory
Commission (CBRC) in October 2009. These meetings
provided timely platforms for the bilateral exchange
of views on global developments, as well as the impact
of these developments on the region. In August 2009,
MAS also participated in the 6th Joint Council for
Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) between China and Singapore.
This annual exchange, co- chaired by China’s
Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Singapore’s Deputy
Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng, facilitates high-level
discussions on issues ranging from economic and financial
cooperation to cultural exchange.
