Data Analytics on Investment Risk and Return
Department Risk Management
Description of Project You would be part of the team to systematize and streamline available datasets of investment returns, risk and exposure for MAS’ reserves portfolio and its underlying asset classes and mandates, including emerging areas like climate transition risk.

Develop a data visualisation platform to enable effective monitoring, analysis and reporting of investment performance and risk metrics of the reserves portfolio.
Expected deliverables for the project Systematize datasets of investment risk, returns and exposure into scalable and system-readable structure for effective database management.

Develop a prototype interface platform using data visualisation tools, preferably Tableau to enable users to effectively query, monitor and analyse investment return and risk metrics including emerging areas like climate change, physical and transition risk.
Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship  1.Opportunity to understand how investment performance and risk management are conducted at one of the world’s leading central banks
2. Practical hands-on experience on how investment data could be transformed into valuable insights to aid actionable decision for investment portfolio management
3. Opportunity to understand how investment performance and risk management are conducted at one of the world’s leading central banks.  Deepens understanding of how market development affect portfolio performance and risk.
4. Stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.
Pre-requisites preferred from the intern(s)  Business analytics preferred but not compulsory. Keen interest in database management, coding and data visualisation tools, preferably Tableau.

Data & Knowledge Platform (Structured Data Catalogue) Enhancements
Department Enterprise Knowledge
Description of Project The intern will support the development of an end-to-end data cataloguing solution for data owners to provide business metadata (e.g. names of datafields in a dataset). Such metadata are then exposed to a wider pool of users to enable search. A key feature of the catalogue is to put in place workflows to facilitate access to the datasets of interest to users of the solution.
Expected deliverables for the project Enhance a functional data catalogue with additional features that can enable better search and discovery of datasets, and tracking of changes to datasets’ metadata. Such features includes, but not limited to, the following:
Data lineage
Audit trail (i.e. logging changes made to metadata records)
Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship  Data management and web development skills. In the former, the intern will learn what is needed in order for datasets owned by an organisation to be made "searchable". For the latter, the intern will have hands on experience from design to implementation of his/her proposed solution using our tech stack (i.e. from wire-framing to Dockerization to actual code testing and profiling).
Pre-requisites preferred from the intern(s)  1. Experience with at least one programming language
2. Familiarity with at least one web-framework (React, Angular, Django, Flask etc.)
3. Understanding of REST APIs
