SGQR+

Description of Project

MAS and IMDA, the scheme owners of SGQR, are studying the potential development of a new interoperable layer for SGQR (preliminarily termed as “SGQR+”), to complement the existing baseline SGQR scheme. The project scope will cover to build a pilot SGQR+ scheme to showcase at Singapore FinTech Festival 2023

Expected deliverables for the project

(a) To design the SGQR+ solution with BCS,

(b) To design the detailed exchange of value and commercial model for SGQR+ participants,

(c) To setup the SGQR+ governance structure, and (d) To design the SGQR+ user experience for the merchants and consumers

Digital Asset Regulations in India

Description of Project

a) To research about Digital Asset regulations (eg. crypto policies), focusing on India;

b) To assess ecosystem needs (including financial institutions, startups, venture capital) and research about new initiatives to foster deeper collaboration with India FinTechs community;

c) To research about FinTech trends and fast growing tech companies in India;

d) To engage the fastest growing FinTechs in India, understand their business plans in ASEAN, and assist to formulate new initiatives to hub their regional activities in Singapore

Expected deliverables for the project

To shadow the MAS officer to engage with the industry partners, research about the India FinTech industry and Digital Asset space, and support the FSTI grant application process. The intern should complete the research at the end of the internship and present it in a report/presentation.

Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship 

a) Build up domain knowledge in the FinTech industry and Digital Asset space; 

b) Meet and hear from industry leaders of the financial services and technology sectors;

c) Understand the government’s perspective and considerations on awarding grants

(a) To research about leading global Private Shares markets and exchanges (e.g. Nasdaq Private Markets).

(b) Study of key competitive strengths and advantages of these players.

(c) Mapping of the global Private Shares and Private Markets landscape.

Expected deliverables for the project

(a) To shadow MAS officer(s) to engage with the industry partners, research about the FinTech Investment sector and Private Shares Market. 

(b) The intern should complete the research before the end of the internship and present it in a report.

(c) To assist engagement with the largest and fastest growing FinTech investors, understand their business plans in Singapore and ASEAN, and assist to formulate new initiatives to anchor their regional hub and activities in Singapore.

(d) To gather ecosystem needs (including financial institutions, start-ups, venture capital) and research about new initiatives to foster deeper collaboration with FinTech Investment community.

Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship 

(a) Build up domain knowledge in the FinTech industry and Investments space. 

(b) Understand the public service’s perspective and considerations on policy formulation.

ESG Fintech Ecosystem Development

Description of Project To support GFO's work in developing the ESG fintech ecosystem development in Singapore, through market engagement, events curation and industry partnerships, via two main tracks: 1) Singapore FIntech Festival industry activation and content curation for the ESG Fintech Zone; 2) Supporting Greenprint product development and industry consultation.
Expected deliverables for the project Active partners/stakeholders engagement leading up to Singapore Fintech Festival; close working with and support to GFO product team.
Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship  Hands-on experience and exposure to the emerging ESG Fintech landscape in Singapore/region; insights into Greenprint product strategy and Singapore's overall ESG fintech ecosystem developmental roadmap.
Pre-requisites preferred from the intern(s)  Keen interest and/or relevant knowledge in the ESG and/or fintech space. Prior events management or product management experience preferred.

SEA the Landscape: Exploring Southeast Asia's FinTech Ecosystems

Descriptionof Project The successes of our Southeast Asia partners are integral to Singapore's position in the global digital economy. This project aims to map out a deep understanding of the ecosystems for FinTech in the region, including a comparative analysis of neighbouring countries' regulations, initiatives and development directions. Specific problem statements would be crafted and assigned upon the start of the internship.
Expected deliverables for the project Desktop research culminating in a paper / slide deck that answers assigned problem statements.
Experience and/or skills that the intern(s) may gain from the internship

1. Understanding of the region's ecosystems on FinTech;

2. Analytical skills from assessing the state of the FinTech landscape in the region;

3. Critical thinking from weaving desktop research and findings from alternative sources into a coherent narrative

Pre-requisites preferred from the intern(s)

1. Interest in FinTech;

2. Competency in research methodologies;

3. Competency in other Southeast Asian languages (good-to-have)
