Dear Editor
I refer to "New $2 polymer notes not accepted at certain machines" (20 Feb 2006, Today Forum)
2 The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) worked closely with banks, transport companies and major machine operators to have the Cash Deposit Machines, MRT General Ticketing Machines and other note accepting machines recalibrated to accept $2 polymer notes, prior to launching the notes. Some of the owners of small vending machines are preparing to adapt their machines to accept these notes as well. The decision to calibrate machines is a commercial one for banks and businesses. MAS hopes that over time more businesses will find it viable to calibrate their machines to accept the $2 polymer notes.
Yours sincerely,
