Dr Zhou Xiaochuan of the People's Bank of China to Deliver MAS Lecture

9 July 2004, Singapore - Dr Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor of the People's Bank of China, will deliver the MAS Lecture on Wednesday, 14 July 2004.

Dr Zhou is well-known for the various reforms he has introduced to China's financial industry.  He has been instrumental in putting policies in place to manage China's fast growing economy.  Dr Zhou will speak on "China's Financial Reform and Its Outlook" at the Lecture.

The MAS Lecture series, which began in 2000, provides a platform for a distinguished member of the international financial community to speak on issues of current interest.  Previous speakers include Mr Robert Rubin, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Citigroup Inc and former US Treasury Secretary, Mr William McDonough, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Sir Howard Davies, Chairman of UK's Financial Services Authority.

Attending this year's lecture are central bank governors, deputies and staff from the region, senior executives from financial institutions based here and in Asia and public sector officials.
