Collection of New SG50 Notes Folders

Singapore, 30 October 2015… The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced today the details for collecting the two complimentary SG50 notes folders that each Singaporean household is eligible for. Each Singaporean household will receive a collection card via mail by 9 November 2015. Singaporeans can present this card at any Community Centre/Community Club (CC) to collect the folders from 11 to 30 November 2015, including weekends, between 2.00 pm and 9.30 pm. Those who wish to exchange the current folders1 for new folders can also do so at the CCs during this period.

2   Banks will begin to issue the new notes folders to Singaporeans exchanging for the SG50 commemorative notes from 16 November 2015 onwards. Only Singaporeans will be allowed to obtain the folders, subject to a maximum of two folders per transaction.

3   Banks will cease to issue the current notes folders on 2 November. This is to facilitate the logistical preparations for the issuance of the new notes folders on 16 November 2015. Between 2 and 16 November, members of the public can continue to exchange for the SG50 commemorative notes. The limit of five sets (each set comprising a $50 note and five $10 notes) per transaction will continue to apply.

4   The SG50 commemorative notes and folders will be available at the banks while stocks last. We would like to appeal to the public to refrain from queuing repeatedly to obtain more than the stipulated two folders, in fairness to others.

1 These folders contain a typographical error in the name of our first President Yusof Ishak in the description of the $50 commemorative note. Most such folders had correction stickers affixed.
