Formed in November 1998, the International Advisory Panel (IAP) comprises some of the world's leading financial experts. The panel advises the MAS on Singapore's financial sector reforms and strategies.

Formed in November 1998, the International Advisory Panel (IAP) comprises some of the world's leading financial experts. The panel advises the MAS on Singapore's financial sector reforms and strategies. Tapping the knowledge and expertise of a distinguished advisory panel gives MAS a global perspective on financial sector issues and helps MAS keep abreast of market developments and policy initiatives in major international financial centres. The MAS IAP presently comprises the following members and its meetings are chaired by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Trade and Industry and Chairman, MAS. 

Sir Douglas Flint

Chairman, abrdn Plc

Douglas Flint is Chairman of abrdn PLC, one of Europe’s largest investment companies, a position to which he was appointed on 1st January 2019. He is also Chairman of IP Group plc which helps to create, build and support outstanding intellectual property based companies primarily through collaboration with partner universities.
Douglas Flint retired as Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc on 30th September 2017, having been appointed to that role in December 2010. For fifteen years prior to this he was HSBC’s Group Finance Director, joining from KPMG where he was a partner. Between 2005 and 2011 he was also a Non-Executive Director of BP plc.

Amongst other roles he is currently Chairman of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Just Finance Foundation, a Director of the Centre for Policy Studies, on the Global Advisory Council of Motive Partners, a fintech specialist investment platform, Chairman of the Corporate Board of Cancer Research UK and a Trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

In December 2017 he was appointed by the Chancellor as Special Envoy to China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

In June 2006 Mr Flint was honoured with a CBE and in June 2018 was awarded a Knighthood, both awards in recognition of his services to the finance industry.

Douglas Flint was educated at The High School of Glasgow, Glasgow University and Harvard Business School.

Mr Oliver Bäte

Chairman, Board of Management (CEO), Allianz SE

Mr Oliver Bäte is Chairman of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, one of the world's leading insurers and asset managers with over 86 million retail and corporate customers. Allianz customers benefit from a broad range of personal and corporate insurance services, ranging from property, life and health insurance to assistance services to credit insurance and global business insurance.
Allianz is one of the world’s largest investors, managing over 650 billion euros on behalf of its insurance customers, while our asset managers Allianz Global Investors and PIMCO manage an additional 1.4 trillion euros of third-party assets. In 2017, over 140,000 employees in more than 70 countries achieved total revenue of 126 billion euros and an operating profit of 11 billion euros for the group.

Oliver started his career with McKinsey & Company in New York. Later, he moved to their offices in Germany. In 1998, he took over McKinsey’s German insurance practice. In 2003, he became Director in charge of the firm’s European insurance and asset management sector. Oliver joined the Board of Management of Allianz SE in 2008 as Global Chief Operating Officer. In September 2009, he took over the Chief Financial Officer position. Effective January 2013 he became responsible for Insurance Western & Southern Europe and Global P&C markets. On May 6, 2015 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management. Oliver studied business administration at University of Cologne and holds a MBA from the NYU, Leonard Stern School of Business. He is also Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne, for Insurance and Capital Markets.

Mr Ge Haijiao

Chairman, Bank of China Ltd

Mr Ge has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank of China (BOC) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited since April 2023.

Prior to that, Mr Ge served as Executive Vice Governor of Hebei Province from November 2021 to March 2023, and Vice Governor of Hebei Province from September 2019 to November 2021.

Prior to that, Mr Ge served successively as Deputy General Manager and Executive Director of China Everbright Group Ltd, and Executive Director and President of China Everbright Bank. He had held various positions in Agricultural Bank of China, including Deputy General Manager of Dalian Branch, General Manager of Singapore Branch, Deputy General Manager (department general manager level) of the International Banking Department of Head Office, and General Manager of Heilongjiang Branch.

Mr Ge obtained a Doctor’s Degree in Management from Nanjing Agricultural University, a Master’s Degree in Economics from Jilin University, and a double Bachelor's Degree in Law and in Economics from Liaoning University. He holds the qualifications of Senior Economist and International Business Engineer, and also serves as the Chairman of China International Finance Society, as well as a Member of the International Advisory Panel (IAP) of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Mr Laurence D. Fink

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, BlackRock, Inc.

Laurence D. Fink is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BlackRock. He and seven partners founded BlackRock in 1988, and under his leadership, the firm has grown into a global leader in investment and technology solutions. BlackRock’s mission is to help investors build better financial futures and the firm is trusted to manage more money than any other investment company in the world. Mr. Fink has been named one of the "World's Greatest Leaders" by Fortune, and Barron's has named him one of the "World's Best CEOs" for 15 consecutive years. 
Prior to founding BlackRock in 1988, Mr. Fink was a member of the Management Committee and a Managing Director of The First Boston Corporation.

He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University (NYU) and the World Economic Forum, and is Co-Chairman of the NYU Langone Medical Center Board of Trustees. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Museum of Modern Art, the Council on Foreign Relations and the International Rescue Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in Beijing and on the Executive Committee of the Partnership for New York City.

Mr. Fink earned an MBA with a concentration in real estate from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1976 and a BA in political science from UCLA in 1974.

Mr Jonathan Gray

President and Chief Operating Officer, Blackstone

Jonathan (“Jon”) Gray is President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, and is a member of Blackstone’s Board of Directors. He sits on its Management Committee and most of its investment committees. Mr. Gray previously served as the firm’s Global Head of Real Estate, which he helped to build into the largest real estate platform in the world. He joined Blackstone in 1992.

Mr. Gray currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Hilton Worldwide. He also serves on the board of Harlem Village Academies. Mr. Gray and his wife, Mindy, established the Basser Center for BRCA at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine focused on the prevention and treatment of BRCA related cancers. They also established NYC Kids RISE in partnership with the City of New York to accelerate college savings for low income children.

Mr. Gray received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School, as well as a BA in English from the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr Jean Lemierre

Chairman, BNP Paribas

Mr Lemierre was appointed as the Chairman of BNP Paribas on 1 Dec 2014. He is also Chairman of the main French institute for research into international economics (CEPII), a member of the Institute of International Finance (IIF) and in May 2016, he was elected Member of the Board of Directors of TOTAL.
Mr Lemierre has a long and recognised career in international finance. In the 1980s he held various posts within the French Tax Administration, including Head of Tax Legislation and Director General of Taxes. In May 1995, he was appointed Chief of Cabinet of the French Ministry of Economy and Finances and become Head of Treasury in October later that year. Before being appointed at the helm of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 2000, he was a member of the European Monetary Committee (1995-1998), President of the European Economic and Financial Committee (1999-2000) and Chairman of the Paris Club (1999-2000). He served as President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development until 2008. In 2009, Mr Lemierre became a member of the International Advisory Council of the China Investment Corporation (CIC) and the International Advisory Council of the China Development Bank (CDB). He was Senior Advisor to the Chairman of BNP Paribas between 1 September 2008 and 30 November 2014.

Mr Lemierre graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris) and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. He also holds a degree in Law.

Mr Robin Vince

President and Chief Executive Officer, BNY Mellon

Robin Vince is President and Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon and a member of its Board of Directors. Previously, he was Vice Chair of BNY Mellon and CEO of Global Market Infrastructure. In that role, he oversaw BNY Mellon’s Clearance and Collateral Management, Treasury Services, Markets and Execution Services and Pershing businesses.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon in October 2020, Robin was the Chief Risk Officer of Goldman Sachs and a member of the Management Committee. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1994 and held many leadership roles, including Treasurer, Head of Operations, Head of Global Money Markets, COO of the EMEA region and CEO of Goldman Sachs International Bank, among others. He served on several key subsidiary boards and governance committees. He was named managing director in 2002 and partner in 2006.

Robin is a member of National Geographic Society's Hubbard Council and serves on the Board of Advisors of The Hospital for Special Surgery.

Ms Jane Fraser

Chief Executive Officer, Citi

Jane Fraser is the Chief Executive Officer of Citi, the world's most global bank, which serves millions of consumers, businesses and institutions across 160 countries and jurisdictions. She is the first female CEO in the firm’s history.

Since becoming CEO in March 2021, Jane has launched a multi-year strategy to increase Citi’s profitability and better position the firm for the speed and complexities of the digital age. This effort includes the transformation of Citi’s risk and control environment by modernizing infrastructure, striving for operational excellence and investing in Citi’s culture. Jane is committed to making Citi the preeminent banking partner for institutions with cross-border needs, a global leader in wealth management and a valued personal bank in its home market of the U.S.

During her 18-year career at Citi, Jane has held leadership roles across Citi’s consumer and institutional businesses. Before becoming CEO, she was President of Citi and CEO of the Global Consumer Bank, responsible for all of Citi’s consumer businesses in 19 markets. She also spearheaded the firm’s efforts to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, which she carried into her position as CEO.

Jane joined Citi in 2004 in the Corporate and Investment Banking division. Jane served as Citi’s Global Head of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions from 2007 to 2009, as the CEO of Citi's Global Private Bank from 2009 to 2013, as the CEO of Citi Mortgage from 2013 to 2014, as the CEO of the U.S. Consumer and Commercial Bank and Global Mortgages from 2014 to 2015, and as the CEO of Citigroup Latin America from 2015 to 2019.

Before joining Citi, Jane was a Partner at McKinsey & Company. She started her career at Goldman Sachs in the Mergers & Acquisitions department in London and then worked for Asesores Bursátiles in Madrid.

Jane serves on the Board of Directors of the Business Roundtable and the Council on Foreign Relations. She is Vice Chair of the Partnership for New York City and a member of Harvard Business School’s Board of Dean’s Advisors, the Stanford Global Advisory Board and the Economic Club of New York. Jane has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an M.A. in economics from Cambridge University. She is married with two children.

Mr Christian Sewing

Chief Executive Officer, Deutsche Bank

Christian Sewing, born in 1970, has been a member of the Management Board since January 1, 2015. He has been Chief Executive Officer since April 2018.
He joined Deutsche Bank in 1989. From January until June 2015, he was responsible on the Management Board for Legal, Incident Management Group and Group Audit, and assumed responsibility for Deutsche Bank’s Private & Commercial Bank between July 2015 and April 2018. 

He was Head of Group Audit from June 2013 to December 2014, prior to which he held a number of management positions in Risk. From 2012 to 2013, he was Deputy Chief Risk Officer. From 2010 to 2012, he served as the Bank’s Chief Credit Officer. He has worked in Frankfurt, London, Singapore, Tokyo and Toronto.

From 2005 until 2007, Christian Sewing was a member of the Management Board of Deusche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank.

Before graduating with a diploma from the Bankakademie Bielefeld and Hamburg, he completed a bank apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in 1989.

Ms Jenny Johnson

President and Chief Executive Officer, Franklin Templeton

Jenny Johnson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Templeton. Ms. Johnson joined the firm in 1988 and held leadership roles in all major divisions of the business, including investment management, distribution, technology, operations, and high-net-worth, before becoming CEO in February 2020.


Ms. Johnson was named to Barron's list of the 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance for three consecutive years beginning in 2020, and was named 2021 Woman of the Year by Financial Women of San Francisco. She has been named one of Money Management Executive's Top Women in Asset Management and was chosen by her peers as one of Ignites' Most Influential Women in Fund Management.

Ms. Johnson personally champions diversity and inclusion and is involved in a number of organizations that prioritize D&I. She is a member of the NYSE Board Advisory Council, which identifies and connects diverse board candidates to NYSE-listed companies seeking new directors, and serves on the advisory board of Black Capital, an early-stage fund focused on investing in black and other underrepresented founders. She is a member of the board of directors of Catalyst, a global non-profit dedicated to accelerating progress for women through workplace inclusion. She is a member of the advisory board of The Creative Coalition, a social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community.

Additionally, Ms. Johnson is a board member of the JMT Wilderness Conservancy and the Carolands Foundation. Previously, Ms. Johnson has served on various other boards, including the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital and the San Francisco Giants.

Ms. Johnson earned her B.A. in economics from the University of California at Davis.


Mr John E. Waldron

President and Chief Operating Officer, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.

John Waldron is President and Chief Operating Officer of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. He is a member of the Goldman Sachs Management Committee and Chair of the Firmwide Client and Business Standards Committee and Firmwide Reputational Risk Committee.
Previously, Mr Waldron was Co-Head of the Investment Banking Division (IBD) from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, he was Global Head of Investment Banking Services (IBS)/Client Coverage for IBD and had oversight of the IBS Leadership Group, a group he founded in 2010. Earlier in his career, he was Global Co-Head of the Financial Sponsors Group from 2007 to 2009, Co-Head of Leveraged Finance from 2005 to 2007 and Co-Head of the Media and Entertainment Group in IBD from 2002 to 2005. Mr Waldron joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 and was named Managing Director in 2001 and Partner in 2002.

Mr Waldron is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Trustees Committee of The Lawrenceville School. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York, Co-Chairman of Youth, I.N.C., and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr Georges Elhedery

HSBC CEO Georges Elhedery

Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings plc

Georges Elhedery was appointed Group Chief Executive from 2 September 2024. He most recently served as Group Chief Financial Officer from January 2023 until September 2024.

Mr Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005 as a senior Global Markets executive with extensive trading experience in London, Paris and Tokyo.

He later moved to Dubai and served as Regional Head of Global Markets, Middle East and North Africa (MENA); then as Head of Global Banking & Markets, MENA; and finally as CEO for HSBC, Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye.

Mr Elhedery returned to London to serve as Head of Global Markets in 2019 before taking up the position of Global Co-CEO of Global Banking & Markets in 2020.

Mr Elhedery holds a degree in Engineering from the École Polytechnique in Paris, France, as well as a postgraduate degree in Statistics and Economics from the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE).

Mr Jamie Dimon

Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, JPMorgan Chase and Co.

Mr Dimon became Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2007, following his appointment as CEO on January 1, 2006.  He also assumed the title of President upon the company’s merger with Bank One Corporation on July 1, 2004.
Jamie Dimon is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. 

Mr Dimon became Chairman of the Board, effective January 1, 2007, following his appointment as CEO on January 1, 2006. He also assumed the title of President upon the company’s merger with Bank One Corporation on July 1, 2004. 

Mr Dimon began his professional career at American Express Company, serving as Assistant to the President from 1982 until 1985. He then became a key member of the team that launched and defined the strategy for Commercial Credit Company in October 1986, when the consumer lending company was spun off from Control Data Corporation. He served as Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Vice President, and then President. A completely restructured Commercial Credit made numerous acquisitions and divestitures, substantially improving its profitability. Most significantly, in 1987, it acquired and changed its name to Primerica Corporation, which in 1993 acquired The Travelers Corporation and was renamed Travelers Group. 

At Travelers, Mr Dimon was President and Chief Operating Officer for seven years. He was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of its Smith Barney Inc. subsidiary in January 1996, having previously been the firm’s Chief Operating and Chief Administrative Officer. In November 1997, with the merger of Smith Barney and Salomon Brothers, he became Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of the combined firm. In 1998, he was named President of Citigroup Inc., the global financial services company formed by the combination of Travelers Group and Citicorp in 1998. In addition, he served as Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Salomon Smith Barney Holdings Inc., the investment banking and securities brokerage subsidiary. 

In 2000 Mr Dimon was named Chairman and CEO of Bank One. During his four years with the company, he engineered a dramatic turnaround – taking the bank from a half-billion-dollar loss in 2000 to record earnings of $3.5 billion in 2003. 

A summa cum laude graduate of Tufts University, Mr Dimon holds an MBA degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business, where he was a Baker Scholar. He serves on the boards of directors of a number of non-profit institutions, including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Harvard Business School and the United Negro College Fund. 

Mr Dimon and his wife, Judy, have three daughters.

Mr David Schwimmer

Chief Executive Officer, London Stock Exchange Group

David Schwimmer is Chief Executive Officer of London Stock Exchange Group and a member of the Board of LSEG plc. 


Prior to joining the Group in August 2018, he spent twenty years at Goldman Sachs where he held a number of senior roles, most recently as Global Head of Market Structure and Global Head of Metals & Mining. During his tenure, he also served as Chief of Staff to Lloyd Blankfein, who was then President and COO of Goldman Sachs, and also spent three years in Russia as Co-Head of Russia/CIS. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, he practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He holds a B.A. from Yale University, and post graduate degrees in law (JD) and international affairs (MALD) from Harvard University and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, respectively. 


Ms Shemara Wikramanayake

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Macquarie Group

Shemara has been Macquarie Group’s Managing Director and CEO since late 2018. Macquarie is a global financial group providing clients with asset management, banking, leasing, advisory and risk and capital solutions. Headquartered and listed in Australia, Macquarie’s ~20,500 staff operate in 35 markets with approximately $A850 billion in assets under management. 

Shemara joined Macquarie in 1987 in Macquarie Capital in Sydney.  In her time at Macquarie, Shemara has worked in six countries and across several business lines, establishing and leading Macquarie’s corporate advisory offices in New Zealand, Hong Kong and Malaysia, and the infrastructure funds management business in the US and Canada. Shemara has also served as Chair of the Macquarie Group Foundation. 

As Head of Macquarie Asset Management for 10 years before her appointment as CEO, Shemara led a team of 1,600 staff in 24 markets. Macquarie Asset Management grew to become a world-leading manager of infrastructure and real assets and a top 50 global public securities manager. 

Shemara sits on the World Bank’s Global Commission on Adaptation and was a founding CEO of the United Nations Climate Finance Leadership Initiative (CFLI). She currently leads emerging markets workstreams for CFLI and the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and is a member of the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance. 

Before joining Macquarie, Shemara worked as a corporate lawyer at Blake Dawson Waldron in Sydney. She holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from UNSW and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1996.

Mr Michael Miebach

Chief Executive Officer, Mastercard

Michael Miebach is Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard and a member of the company’s board of directors. He is leading the company into a more digital world where Mastercard powers economies and empowers people by harnessing innovation and the continued application of new technologies. The company is helping to deliver better experiences that are shaping the future of seamless commerce, while bolstering cyber services and data-powered insights.

For much of the past decade, Michael was critical to setting the strategy that transformed the company’s offerings from a consumer card-centric business to a platform supporting choice in how businesses, people and governments make payments. This strategy, combined with the company’s customer focus, helped Mastercard evolve and diversify into new areas including real-time payments, open banking, digital identity and other value-added services.

Michael joined Mastercard in 2010 to lead its Middle East and Africa operations, where he helped shape and advance the company’s financial inclusion efforts. Earlier in his career, Michael held senior roles at both Barclays Bank and Citibank.

He is a member of the digital advisory council of Fannie Mae and a member of the board of directors for the nonprofit Accion and the World Resources Institute. Michael is also a member of The Business Roundtable, The Business Council and The International Business Council of the World Economic Forum, and serves as a board member at large for the Ronald McDonald House New York City.

Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Passau in Germany.


Mr Masahiro Kihara

President and Group CEO, Member of the Board of Directors, Mizuho Financial Group

Masahiro Kihara assumed the role of President & Group CEO, Mizuho Financial Group on February 1, 2022. He has spent his entire 30+ year career at Mizuho, starting at one of its predecessor banks, Industrial Bank of Japan, in 1989.
 
Prior to his current role, Mr. Kihara served as head of the Global Products Unit, overseeing services offered by the investment banking division.

Mr. Kihara has held several senior executive positions across Mizuho including in its: Strategic Planning Group, Financial Control & Accounting Group, Markets Strategic Intelligence Department, Global Finance, Global Markets Group, Financial Planning, Risk Management Division, and Syndicated Finance, among others.

He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Duke Law School and a Bachelor of Law degree from Hitotsubashi University.

Mr Edward (Ted) Pick

Chief Executive Officer, Morgan Stanley

Ted Pick is the Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley. Before becoming CEO in January 2024, Mr. Pick served as Morgan Stanley’s Co-President, Co-Head of Firm Strategy and Head of the Institutional Securities Group, overseeing Investment Banking, Equities, Fixed Income, Global Capital Markets and Research.

In previous roles, Mr. Pick was Global Head of Sales and Trading, engineering a turnaround of the firm’s Fixed Income Division. As Head of Institutional Equities, he led that business to a leading global position. He also served as Head of Equity Capital Markets helping the firm actively raise capital during the financial crisis.

Mr. Pick joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2002. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee (2012), Management Committee (2008) and Morgan Stanley-MUFG Steering Committee (2013).

Mr. Pick graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Middlebury College (1990) and received an MBA from the Harvard Business School (1994). He is a Trustee at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2018) and serves on the MET’s Nominating & Governance Committee. Mr. Pick is Chair of the Advisory Board for the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health and is a board member of the Institute of International Finance.

Mr Kanetsugu Mike

Chairman, MUFG

Mr Kanetsugu “Sugu” Mike is the Chairman of MUFG.

Since joining MUFG in 1979, Mr Mike has been instrumental in the development of the bank’s 
global business with assignments in London, New York, and Thailand. He has also led various 
high-profile projects involving complex integration of the organization, including the merger of 
entities ultimately creating MUFG.

In 2011, Mr Mike was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive of Corporate Services, 
where he was responsible for the bank’s information systems and operations. Following this 
assignment and the bank’s investment in the fifth-largest bank in Thailand, in 2014, Mr Mike 
was appointed Vice Chairman of the Bangkok-based Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) and played a 
key role in its successful integration with MUFG Bank’s Bangkok branch.

In 2017, after serving as the Co-Chief Executive of Global Business Unit and Regional 
Executive for the Americas, Mr Mike was appointed to his current position, President and CEO 
of MUFG Bank.

In 2019, Mr Mike was appointed President & Group CEO of MUFG, and a year later in 2020, he 
became the Deputy Chairman of MUFG.

In April 2021, he was appointed the Chairman of MUFG.

Mr Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Keio University, Japan in 1979, and a

Dr Joachim Wenning

Chairman of the Board of Management, Munich Re

Joachim Wenning was appointed Chair of the Board of Management with effect from 27 April 2017. He has since been responsible for Group Holdings; Group Strategy and M&A; and Group Human Resources. Currently, his responsibilities include the divisions Strategy & Innovation; Group Communications; Group Audit; Economics, Sustainability & Public Affairs; Group Executive Affairs; and Group Compliance and Legal.

Mr Wenning has been a Member of the Board of Management of Munich Re since 1 January 2009 initially responsible for the Life Division, and from October 2013 until April 2017 also for Human Resources.

He joined Munich Re in 1991 and has held a variety of leadership roles in Germany and in Switzerland.

Born in Jerusalem in Israel in 1965, Mr Wenning is a graduate in economics from the University of Munich, completing his doctoral thesis in 1995.


Mr Kentaro Okuda

President and Group CEO, Nomura Holdings | Member of Board of Directors, Nomura Securities

Mr Kentaro Okuda is currently President and Group CEO of Nomura Holdings. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Nomura Securities.
Prior to becoming Group CEO in April 2020, Mr. Okuda served as Group Co-COO of Nomura Holdings and Deputy President of Nomura Securities from April 2018. He concurrently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nomura Holding America, a position he held from 2017 to 2019, together with his role as Head of Americas.

Mr Okuda joined Nomura in 1987. During his career at Nomura, he has held a number of senior positions with the firm, mainly within the Wholesale/Investment Banking business, including Global Head of Investment Banking and Joint Head of Wholesale, Global Head of M&A, and Head of TMT.

Mr Okuda also has management experience within corporate functions, having served as Head of Group Strategy and Executive Office, where he was responsible for developing and implementing the group’s corporate strategy.

Mr Okuda graduated from Keio University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and received his MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Mr Steffen Meister

Partner, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Partners Group

Steffen Meister is a Partner of the firm and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Partners Group Holding AG, based in Zug. He is also Chairman of the Board's Strategy Committee and a member of its Client Oversight Committee.

Steffen Meister has been with Partners Group since 2000 and served as Delegate of the Board from 2013 to 2018 and as Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2013. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the firm’s portfolio company Hearthside Food Solutions. Steffen Meister is furthermore the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crossiety AG, a social media platform for local communities in Switzerland, and a member of the Board of Directors of FAIRTIQ AG, a company providing advanced travel payment solutions for the public transport sector.

Prior to joining Partners Group, he worked at Credit Suisse Financial Products and had assignments at Swiss Reinsurance Co. and the Department of Mathematics of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. He has 26 years of industry experience and holds a master's degree in mathematics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Switzerland.


Mr Anil Wadhwani

Chief Executive Officer, Prudential PLC

As Chief Executive Officer, Anil leads Prudential plc’s operations in Asia and Africa, overseeing a 15,000-strong team in 24 markets. He joined Prudential in 2023 with a passion for helping customers, their families and communities secure their future through innovative solutions. Anil is based in Hong Kong.

Anil has more than 30 years’ financial services experience, predominantly in Asia. Born and educated in Mumbai, he has lived and worked in India, Singapore, London, New York and Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Prudential, Anil was CEO of Manulife Asia, where he spent five years growing the multi-channel organisation and transforming its highly diversified business with significant market share gains.

Anil also spent 25 years with Citigroup Inc in Asia Pacific, EMEA and the US in a number of consumer financial services roles. 

Throughout his career Anil has combined strategic vision and meticulous execution to drive the performance of leading companies. He has also led significant digital transformation, having overseen the modernisation of technology platforms in previous roles. 

Anil holds a Master’s Degree in Management Studies from the Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai.

Mr Thierry Léger

Chief Executive Officer, SCOR 

Thierry Léger, 56, a dual French and Swiss citizen, holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich) and an Executive MBA from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. He began his career in the civil construction industry before joining Swiss Re as an engineering underwriter in 1997. 

In 2001 he moved to Swiss Re New Markets, providing non-traditional (or alternative) risk transfer solutions to insurance clients. Between 2003 and 2005 he was a member of the executive team in France as leader of the sales team.

From 2006, Thierry Léger assumed increasing responsibility for Swiss Re’s largest clients, ultimately becoming the Head of the newly-created Globals Division in 2010 and a member of the then existing Group Management Board. In 2013, Thierry Léger became Head of Life & Health Products Reinsurance. As of January 2016, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer Life Capital and member of the Swiss Re Executive Committee.

In September 2020, he assumed the role of Group Chief Underwriting Officer. He joined SCOR as Chief Executive Officer on May 1, 2023. Thierry Léger is married and is the father of three children.

Mr Bill Winters

Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered

Bill Winters was appointed to the Board of Standard Chartered PLC as Group Chief Executive on 10 June 2015, having joined the Group in May 2015. He is based in London.
Bill has had a distinguished career in banking, having spent 26 years with JP Morgan in diverse leadership roles, becoming co-Chief Executive Officer of the investment bank in 2004 until he stepped down in 2009. Bill was the only career banker to be invited to be a committee member of the Independent Commission on Banking, established by the UK government in 2010 to recommend ways to improve competition and financial stability in banking. Subsequently, he served as advisor to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards and was asked by the Court of the Bank of England to complete an independent review of the bank’s liquidity operations. Bill founded the hedge fund Renshaw Bay in 2011 where he was Chairman and CEO until he stepped down from the company on appointment to the Standard Chartered PLC Board.

Bill is an independent non-executive director of Novartis International AG and a non-executive director of Pension Insurance Corporation plc.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Colgate University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr Makoto Takashima

Chairman of the Board, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC)

Makoto Takashima is Chairman of the Board, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). Mr. Takashima joined The Sumitomo Bank, Limited in April 1982. After that, his career mainly focused on global banking and corporate strategy.

Mr. Takashima held the post of Managing Executive Officer and CEO of The Americas Division from April 2012, and took up the positions of Senior Managing Executive Officer, Member of the Management Committee, and Co-Head of the International Banking Unit, supervising SMBC’s businesses in Europe and the Americas in April 2014. He was appointed as President and CEO of SMBC in April 2017, and was made a Director of SMFG in June 2017. In April 2023, he was named Chairman of the Board, SMBC.

Outside of his duties at SMBC, Mr. Takashima has served twice as Chairman of the Japanese Bankers Association (April 2019 to March 2020, and July 2021 to June 2022). He has also served on the Institute of International Finance's Board of Directors (April 2017 to March 2023) and Executive Committee (October 2019 to March 2023). In May 2023, the Japan Business Federation appointed Mr. Takashima as Chair, Committee on Europe, and also appointed as Vice Chair and Chair of Committee on Financial and Capital Markets in May 2024.

Mr. Takashima holds a LL.B. degree from Kyoto University (1982) and a LL.M. degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley (1986). 

 

Mr Jacques de Vaucleroy

Jacques de Vaucleroy was elected to the Board of Directors of Swiss Re Ltd in 2017 and was appointed Vice Chairman in April 2023 and Chairman of the Board of Directors in April 2024. He chairs the Governance, Nomination and Sustainability Committee.

Professional experience
Jacques de Vaucleroy was a member of the Management Committee of AXA Group from 2010 to 2016, serving as Chief Executive Officer for North, Central and Eastern Europe and Chief Executive Officer of Global Life & Savings. He also held a number of positions in boards of directors and supervisory boards of AXA companies. Before that, he spent 24 years at ING, where he held senior roles in banking, asset management and insurance. He was a member of the Executive Board of ING Group from 2006 to 2009, in charge of insurance and asset management in Europe.

Mr Sergio P. Ermotti

Group CEO of UBS Group AG

Sergio P. Ermotti has been Group CEO of UBS Group AG and President of the Executive Board of UBS AG since April 2023. He was already the Group CEO of the firm from 2011 to 2020. 

He re-joined UBS from Swiss Re, where he was Chairman of the Board of Directors until April 2023. Prior to joining UBS in 2011, he was at UniCredit Group where from 2007 to 2010 he served as Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking and Private Banking, prior to that he served as Head of the Markets & Investment Banking Division.

Between 1987 and 2004, he held various positions at Merrill Lynch & Co. in the areas of equity derivatives and capital markets. He became Co-Head of Global Equity Markets and a member of the Executive Management Committee for Global Markets & Investment Banking in 2001.
