Financial Advisers Supervision Department
The Financial Advisers Supervision Department (FAS) is responsible for admitting and supervising financial advisory intermediaries (including banks and insurers that provide financial advisory services) and insurance brokers.FAS supervises and administers rules and regulations under the Financial Advisers Act and Insurance Act (on parts relating to insurance intermediaries) to uphold standards of market conduct among intermediaries and their representatives.
Investment Intermediaries Department
The Investment Intermediaries Department (IID) is responsible for admitting and supervising investment-related intermediaries, including fund managers, real estate investment trust (REIT) managers, trust companies, custodians and crowdfunding operators.IID supervises and administers the licensing and business conduct of these intermediaries to promote safe, sound and fair dealing.
Markets, Infrastructures & Intermediaries Department
The Markets, Infrastructures & Intermediaries Department (MII) is responsible for admitting and supervising markets and infrastructures, including exchanges, central counterparties, the central depository, trade repositories, benchmark administrators, as well as their surrounding ecosystem of securities and derivatives broker intermediaries.MII supervises and administers relevant regulations and rules to promote:
(i) fair, orderly and transparent markets;
(ii) safe and efficient financial market infrastructures; and
(iii) safe, sound and fair-dealing intermediaries.
MII also supervises the individuals who have been appointed to act as representatives for securities and derivatives brokers.
Corporate Finance & Disclosures Department
The Corporate Finance & Disclosures Department regulates:(i) the offering of securities, business trusts and collective investment schemes (including REITs);
(ii) the conduct of takeover and merger transactions;
(iii) the disclosure of interests in securities of listed entities; and
(iv) SGX as a listed entity.
It also supervises corporate financial advisers and credit rating agencies, and coordinates the Capital Markets Group's regulatory approach to corporate and sustainability disclosures.
