MAS Launches 2008 Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 Commemorative Coins

Singapore, 25 July 2008...The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) today launched a set of coins to commemorate the official opening of Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Coin Design

2   The new terminal is an eco-conscious architecture – integrating nature's wonders with state-of-the-art-technology to create a relaxing and refined ambience for travellers.

3   The coin features the "Green Wall", a 5-storey high vertical garden spanning 300 metres across the main building, covered with climbing plants and cascading waterfalls.  Also depicted is the unique roof with 919 skylights fitted with an intelligent system of reflector panels.

4   The obverse of the coins bears the Singapore Arms with the year-date 2008.

Limited Worldwide Mintage

5   The details of the coin are:

a. $5 Silver Proof Coin
20 grams of 999 fine silver with full colour application. Coin diameter of 38.70 mm. Mintage of 8,000 pieces.

b. $5 Cupro-Nickel Proof-Like Coin
Proof-like condition with selective colour application. Coin diameter of 38.70 mm. Mintage will be based on demand.

c. 2-in-1 Coin Set
The above two coins are also available in a 2-in-1 Premium Set, with a low mintage of 2,008 sets only.
