Money Got Enough! Skit to Impart Financial Planning Tips to Working Adults
Singapore, 9 January 2008...The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), the Council of Third Age (C3A) and MoneySENSE will stage a skit entitled “Money Got Enough!” at the Silver Industry Conference & Exhibition at Suntec Convention Centre on 12 and 13 January 2008.
2 Aimed at encouraging Singaporeans to manage their finances so that they can have enough in their golden years, the ten-minute skit imparts key messages on living within one’s means and encourages working adults to plan for their retirement and seniors to manage their retirement funds prudently. The messages are delivered in a light hearted and witty dialogue between two well known actresses - Irene Ang from Fly Entertainment and Patricia Mok from Mediacorp.
3 Said Mrs Ong-Ang Ai Boon, Director, the Association of Banks in Singapore: “ABS is pleased to collaborate with MoneySENSE and C3A in addressing the financial needs of our ageing population. Through this entertaining and funny skit, we hope the key messages of managing one's personal finances prudently and planning adequately for retirement needs, will be carried home. In this way, we hope to help more Singaporeans enjoy "golden" or even “platinum" years, instead of merely "silver" years.”
4 According to Mr Henry Quake, Chief Executive Officer, the Council of Third Age: “The Council believes that sound financial planning – before and after retirement – goes a long way towards ensuring security and peace of mind in one’s retirement years. Many older people may find the subject of financial planning intimidating, and by adopting a light and humorous approach, we hope that seniors will learn more about this topic and understand the importance of taking pro-active steps to manage their finances.”
5 Said Mr Shane Tregillis, Chairman of MoneySENSE Financial Education Steering Committee and Deputy Managing Director (Market Conduct), Monetary Authority of Singapore: "We welcome initiatives by ABS and C3A to reach out to working adults in lively and entertaining ways so as to encourage Singaporeans to take a few simple steps in planning their finances for their retirement years.”
6 A recording of the skit will also be distributed to various community centres and grassroots organisations/clubs for screening to their constituents. This way, the financial education tips would be shared with a wider audience. Community organisations who wish to obtain a DVD recording of the “Money Got Enough!” skit for educational purposes may contact C3A at email@example.com or (65) 6358 0333.
