Fit-for-Gifting currency notes (Fit notes) and e-hong baos during Lunar New Year (LNY)
6 December 2022
MAS encouraged members of the public to use Fit notes or e-hong baos during LNY to reduce the carbon emissions from new notes. For LNY 2023, MAS worked with the banks to make Fit notes more accessible to the public via online reservation and selected pop-up ATMs.
Corporate Sustainability
Ongoing
Beyond driving a climate-resilient finance sector, MAS strives to make a positive impact on the environment through its corporate sustainability efforts. At the inaugural MAS Sustainability Week in September 2022, MAS staff learned, advocated and created new habits to minimise impact on climate change. For example, staff donated pre-loved clothes, shoes, accessories and books. 230kg of textile and over 100 pre-loved books were collected for reuse and recycling. MASquare, a digital marketplace was created for staff to give away their pre-loved items to one another. Staff also pledged to adopt greener ways to commute to work and to bring their own reusable containers for take-away meals.
