Natural Catastrophe Data Analytics Exchange (NatCatDAX)

The NatCatDAX aims to be the leading natural catastrophe data facility in the region, which fuses top-down economic data obtained through advanced computational techniques and remote sensing technologies with industry data.

What It Is

The NatCatDAX is a public-private partnership that is led by the Institute for Catastrophe Risk Management (ICRM) of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU), in collaboration with the insurance industry and supported by MAS.

Outcome

  • To have a high resolution, objective and widely accepted data and analytics platform which enhances the analytics and understanding of catastrophe risks 
  • To ensure that NatCatDAX plays a key role in supporting the use of traditional reinsurance and other innovative risk transfer mechanisms to enhance disaster resilience in the region

The NatCatDAX work was executed by a research and production consortium led by ICRM and with other consortium members being PERILS and Sinotech. The consortium provided their technical expertise and worked in synergy to develop the data and analytics platform.
