MoneySense campaign to promote financial resilience amid COVID-19 challenges

MoneySense launched a publicity campaign to encourage Singaporeans to strengthen their financial resilience through budgeting, saving for emergencies, investing early, and planning early for retirement. The centrepiece of the @MoneySense 101 campaign was a series of short videos carrying tips on financial planning, that was broadcast on free-to-air TV and social media channels. 

MoneySense continued to support the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) World Investor Week

MAS joined fellow securities regulators members of IOSCO to support the World Investor Week (WIW) 2021, a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection. The WIW featured a special regional webinar where IOSCO Asia Pacific members from India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore came together to share insights on emerging scams and fraud schemes in Asia, with MAS focusing on cryptocurrency investments and unregulated online trading platform scams.

MAS issued guidelines to discourage the promotion of cryptocurrency trading to general public

MAS issued guidelines setting out expectations that digital payment token (DPT) service providers should not market or advertise DPT services in public areas in Singapore, or engage third parties to do so, given that the trading of DPTs is highly risky and not suitable for the general public.
