At the COP30 Singapore Pavillion on Finance Day, Mr Chia Der Jiun, Managing Director of MAS, highlighted the need to translate climate commitments into investable projects, underscoring the importance of mobilising capital, building on climate finance and carbon market milestones. He outlined MAS’s approach to supporting Asia’s climate transition through three pillars—developing credible financing solutions, building financial sector capabilities, and demonstrating capital mobilisation. This underscored MAS’s intent to work with like minded partners to scale practical, high integrity solutions that deliver real world climate impact and catalyse sustained private capital flows.

Singapore-UK Collaboration on Energy Transition and Sustainable Infrastructure Investments in Southeast Asia

Singapore and the United Kingdom (UK) announced a collaboration to drive clean energy transition and advance the development of sustainable infrastructure across Southeast Asia, via a pledge of up to £70 million to Singapore’s Financing Asia’s Transition Partnership (FAST-P) initiative. The funding will be delivered through British International Investment (BII) to support low-carbon energy projects and innovative business models, bolstering energy security and climate resilience.

3rd China-Singapore Green Finance Taskforce (GFTF) Meeting

MAS and the People’s Bank of China reaffirmed their commitment to advance cooperation in green and transition finance at the 3rd Singapore-China GFTF meeting. Held in Singapore for the first time, the GFTF discussed progress updates on various joint initiatives to advance taxonomy interoperability, facilitate green financing flows through the Green Corridor, and leverage technology, including work on a carbon accounting and decarbonisation rating platform that could facilitate the adoption of sustainable finance.
