Singapore Governance and Transparency Index Forum 2025

At the Singapore Governance and Transparency Index (SGTI) Forum 2025, Mr Lim Tuang Lee, AMD (Capital Markets) of MAS spoke about how good corporate governance will help companies navigate geoeconomic uncertainties. He highlighted the importance of independent and diverse boards, encouraged companies and directors to actively engage investors and continually acquire new skills. He also shared on the ongoing review of the Code of Corporate Governance.

Initiatives to Promote Responsible Online Financial Content

MAS published new Guidelines on Standards of Conduct for Digital Advertising Activities. The Guidelines establish expectations for financial institutions (FIs) on responsible and professional digital advertising practices and set out safeguards to manage risks associated with digital advertising. The Guidelines apply to all FIs and their appointed third parties, including online content creators, and are effective from 25 March 2026. MAS also collaborated with the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) and issued a guide for online content creators on "7 must-knows when sharing financial information online", covering key considerations when creating content.

MAS’ Proposed Guidelines for AI Risk Management

MAS sought feedback on a set of proposed Guidelines, applicable to all FIs, setting out MAS’ supervisory expectations on oversight of AI risk management in FIs, key AI risk management systems, policies and procedures, key AI life cycle controls, as well as capabilities and capacity needed for the use of AI. The proportionate, risk-based guidelines enable responsible innovation by FIs that implement the relevant safeguards to address key AI-related risks. The consultation period has closed, and MAS is currently reviewing all submission received.

Information Paper Reviewing Financial Institutions (FIs)’ Recruitment and Onboarding Training of Representatives

MAS undertook a thematic review of FIs’ recruitment and onboarding training of representatives and published an Information Paper on the outcome of the review. The paper covered supervisory expectations, good practices observed and areas for enhancement in the recruitment of representatives; monitoring of representatives with adverse information; and onboarding training of representatives.
