Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) 50th Anniversary Distinction Evening Gala

At the IBF 50th Anniversary Distinction Evening Gala, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and Chairman of MAS, Mr Gan Kim Yong, delivered the keynote speech on equipping the financial sector workforce for the next bound of growth, by (i) helping workers build new skills in areas such as sustainability and the digital economy; (ii) continuing to invest in talent development; and (iii) building a strong pipeline of local talent for the financial sector.

Managing Director of MAS, and Chairman of IBF, Mr Chia Der Jiun, spoke on IBF’s milestones in its journey with tripartite partners and the collaborations that have been key to IBF’s success.

Global-Asia Family Office Summit

SuperReturn Asia Conference

At the SuperReturn Asia Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and Chairman of MAS, Mr Gan Kim Yong, spoke on how Asia offers significant opportunities for private capital to support the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region, drive Asia’s green and transition finance needs and facilitate the growth of ASEAN’s digital economy. Private capital plays an important role in shaping the future of Southeast Asia, with Singapore offering the ideal platform for private market players to make inroads into the region.

Asian Financial Leaders Programme Graduation Dinner

At the Asian Financial Leaders Programme Graduation Dinner, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Board Member of MAS, Mr Alvin Tan, announced that MAS will launch two new leadership programmes in 2025 and introduce a new Group Track under the International Postings Programme to further support and encourage financial institutions to send Singaporean leaders in finance for overseas postings.

20th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference

At the 20th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and Chairman of MAS, Mr Gan Kim Yong, highlighted opportunities for the reinsurance industry to grow in Asia in four key areas: (i) Enhancing climate risk modelling and tailored solutions to address the underinsurance gap from climate change; (ii) Developing innovative de-risking solutions to facilitate investments in renewable energy and decarbonisation projects; (iii) Enhancing cyber risk underwriting and partnerships alongside the growth of the digital economy; and (iv) Advancing long-term risk financing solutions to address growing health and retirement financing needs.

Launch of Tax Schemes Portal (TSP) for the Funds and Single Family Office (SFO) tax schemes

MAS administers a suite of tax schemes to promote the growth and development of Singapore’s financial centre. To increase MAS’ efficiency in the processing of applications and the monitoring of economic outcomes, the TSP was launched on 2 January 2025 for the Funds and SFO schemes. It allows financial institutions and their advisors to apply for relevant tax schemes and submit required documents.

28th IMAS Annual Investment Conference
