Financial Transparency Corridor (FTC) initiative between Singapore and Cambodia

MAS and the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) announced the start of the FTC initiative between Singapore and Cambodia. The FTC is a consent-based digital infrastructure and network between financial institutions (FIs) in Singapore and Cambodia, that aims to catalyse increased trade and cross-border related financial services between small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in Singapore and Cambodia. The ease of data accessibility enables participating FIs to make better credit risk assessments and facilitate greater availability of financing for SME trade between Singapore and Cambodia.

20th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC)

The JCBC is the annual high-level bilateral platform to oversee and provide direction to Singapore-China cooperation. At the 20th JCBC meeting held in Singapore, MAS announced new green finance and capital markets initiatives to strengthen financial cooperation with China. The initiatives include catalysing green financing flows, exploring a pilot for the “over-the-counter” bond market framework between China and Singapore, strengthening collaboration in indices and the ETF Product Link, and facilitating financial institutions’ access to Chinese markets

MAS Term Professorship in Economics and Finance at National University of Singapore (NUS)

December 2024 and January 2025

The MAS Term Professorship in Economics and Finance appoints distinguished scholars as Visiting Professors at NUS, with the aim of strengthening Singapore’s financial and economic research infrastructure and fostering a vibrant research community at local universities. On 4 December 2024, MAS reaffirmed its partnership with NUS by extending the MAS Term Professorship in Economics and Finance at NUS for another five years. With this renewal, the MAS Term Professorship has been broadened beyond its focus on eminent academics in economics and finance to include industry practitioners as well as rising academic stars. On 2 January 2025, NUS and MAS jointly appointed Professor Atif Mian as the MAS Distinguished Term Professor in Economics and Finance from 2 to 17 January 2025.

Singapore and Viet Nam enhance cooperation in financial innovation

12 March 2025

MAS and the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV) agreed to enhance their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), first signed on 25 April 2018, to further cooperate on financial innovation. The upgraded MoU on financial innovation will facilitate an expanded scope of cooperation on joint digital innovation projects, promote payment connectivity between Singapore and Vietnam, and support FinTech operations in both markets.
