Embracing Innovation and Technology

As technology increasingly reshapes and transforms the economy and financial landscape, MAS undertook a broad set of initiatives, engagements and publications that advanced our priorities of building an innovative and inclusive financial centre for the present and the future.

These efforts drove development and adoption of AI and tokenisation, fostered entrepreneurial growth and industry-wide innovations, strengthened cross-border collaboration, and supported the development of trusted digital financial infrastructure, thereby improving the payment experience. Collectively, this body of work reflects MAS’ purpose of shaping a resilient, inclusive and future-ready financial ecosystem, well-connected to other global nodes, to reinforce Singapore’s position as a leading global financial centre.

Remarks by MD at SFF 2025 on Creating the Future of Finance

13 November 2025

At SFF 2025, Mr Chia Der Jiun, Managing Director of MAS, discussed the future of FinTech, focusing on two transformative themes: AI and tokenisation. He highlighted the aim for financial institutions to adopt AI productively and safely, and for the workforce to have the skills to use AI. He also emphasised that to achieve a future where most financial assets will be tokenised, traded and settled on chain, market participants bring use cases that demonstrate value and stability for their clients. Additionally, asset-backed tokens need to be standardised and networks interoperable. There also needs to be a deep pool of safe and reliable settlement assets, as well as institutional-grade networks to enable wholesale token transactions. He also provided an update on MAS’ stablecoin regulatory regime and the Guide on the Tokenisation of Capital Markets Products.
